چکیده

ABSTRACT We present photometric properties of 183 member galaxies in the Abell 426 cluster using Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) imaging and spectroscopic observation. Detailed morphology based on visual classification followed by multicomponent image decomposition 179 is presented SDSS g, r, i bands. More than 80 per cent members are early-type (ETGs), with elliptical, dwarf elliptical (dE), lenticular follow red-sequence colour–magnitude diagram (CMD). With a few dEs spirals blue cloud, CMD nearly unimodal. The ∼2-mag fainter different Sersic index central velocity dispersion distribution their bright counterparts. Further, we establish Kormendy relation (KR) fundamental plane (FPR) for five samples ETGs constructed derived physical parameters such as index, concentration, mean r-band slope zero-point KR 3.02 ± 0.1 18.65 0.03 close agreement to other ellipticals local higher redshift. Kinematics-based ETG sample produces least scatter getting brighter ∼1.3 mag from g band. low-mass similar but form parallel KR. an FPR = 1.37 0.003, b 0.35 0.05, c −9.37 0.02 r band; tend deviate this at end. On the scaling relations of disk galaxies

The physical background of scaling laws of disk galaxies is reviewed. The match between analytically derived and observed scaling laws is briefly discussed. Accurate modeling of the fraction of baryons that end up populating a disk, and the conversion efficiency of those into stars, remains a challenging task for numerical simulations. The measurement of rotational velocity tends to be made wit...

The Fundamental Scaling Relations of Elliptical Galaxies

We examine the fundamental scaling relations of elliptical galaxies formed through mergers. Using hundreds of simulations to judge the impact of progenitor galaxy properties on the properties of merger remnants, we find that gas dissipation provides an important contribution to tilt in the Fundamental Plane relation. Dissipationless mergers of disks produce remnants that occupy a plane similar ...

Scaling Relations of Spiral Galaxies and Their Application to Cosmology

The theoretical background for the main scaling relations of spiral galaxies is discussed, and compared with the observational datum. The luminosity–linewidth relation (TFR) is the best determined among those; the sources of scatter of each are discussed. The results of applications of the TFR to Cosmology, using several all–sky samples of galaxies, are summarized. They yield estimates of H◦, o...

Curvature in the scaling relations of early-type galaxies

We select a sample of about 50,000 early-type galaxies from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), calibrate fitting formulae which correct for known problems with photometric reductions of extended objects, apply these corrections, and then measure a number of pairwise scaling relations in the corrected sample. We show that, because they are not seeing corrected, the use of Petrosian-based quant...
